Give a positive entry : Kid's door decor idea

I always wanted to make kid's room very colorful and attractive. We don't have separate room for LO (yet), so we take control over the entire house! We hang, paste where ever we wish!😀 Check out our Alphabet on wall Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 posts here👆. This door decor idea is for big children who are in Kindergartens. I have compiled words that would create a positive vibe. So decided to put at the entrance, on the door. LO and my niece nephew liked it very much😍What other big recognition would I need? 😍😊

I used the back side of gift wrap paper, since i didn't have any bigger size paper.

City at Night : Paper collage for kids

Making collage is one of my favorite activity (!😜) when I do with LO! Collage always finds a place in my repeat-list, because it's of no mess since there is no paint involved😀. Now LO is close to 6 years and he is doing his best when handling with scissors. So I can just sit back and watch😎! Not exactly though, I help him almost in every step and have discussion about the colors, shape and size of the paper to be cut. We loved this night city collage inspired from artsycraftsymom.com. Hope we have done a decent job! Try this collage and let me know your experience with your kid.

Painting with cotton swabs - Part 2 : Make a colorful tree!

This time we tried painting with a bunch of cotton swabs! Check out our Part 1 painting with cotton swabs. I helped LO in drawing the tree's truck and branches. We just used two colors, pink and white. You could try with many colors to make the tree look more beautiful and multi-colored. Extend your imagination and creativity and let your child create their own masterpiece!😀

Does it Sink or float? : STEM Activity for kindergartners

Here is another fun filled science activity for water-loving kids!😀LO loves to play with water anytime anywhere😉. He doesn't bother about wetting his clothes while playing, but it bothers a lot when a drop of water/juice/food wets his clothes while eating!😏 Right now he is close to 6 years, still I'm not able to win over the eating time battle!!😕 Going off the track! Let's get into the STEM activity for curious little champs!👦

This is a low-preparation activity, the kids can do either indoor or outdoor. If you are planning to make it indoors, make sure you protect your floor with some sheets/mat to prevent the mess-up by water spillage. 

I prefer to make it outdoor, on the patio, so that LO can get as wet and wild as he like with it!

This is a simple science experiment that will encourage your children to make predictions and observations about buoyancy and density. They’ll learn that buoyant objects float and dense objects sink. I'm sure at this age KGs find it difficult to understand the concept of buoyancy and density. Bigger kids could get the concept, but for KGs this would be an opportunity to get introduced to such concepts. 

Learning apart! Let's get into the fun part.😉

Things we used:

• A tray
• Toys and small objects
• A paper and a pen

I asked LO to get me some objects for the activity. This would probably be a mini scavenger hunt for them! He collected some of his toys, and I gathered some spoons(both metal and plastic),keys, cloth pins, green leaf, etc. 

At the end of activity I planned to make a list, categorizing the objects that would float and sink.

Filled the tray with water.. and the fun began! I asked him to drop the objects one-by-one and observe what happens.

LO already had an insight of sink and float. So it was bit easy to carry the play.
Sink- the objects would go deep into the water!
Float- the objects would stay on the surface of water!

Many questions were raised by LO! Why the bowling pin so big and it doesn't sink, but the small cloth pin sinks? I managed to answer, that the bowling pin is made of plastic so it floats, but the cloth pin is made of a metal so it sinks! Silly though, but the answer convinced him!😜

He forced the thermocol block to get immersed. But it didn't listen!😀

We even had a couple of things that just sort of sank, but kinda floated too. This caused confusion. Finally we sorted out the things in two piles, float and sink.

Again we repeated the play with things that only float, and the things that sink, separately.

And the play went on in repeat mode!!💓😀

Later, we discussed about the play, and listed out the items that float and sink on a sheet of paper.

During the play encourage your kids to talk about,

• Float and sink concepts
• What the floating objects have in common?
• What if an empty plastic container is put in water? and what if the same container is filled with water and dropped in the tray?
• Before placing each object in water you can ask kids to predict whether it would float or sink?

The chalk and the sweat - Gross motor activity for Kids

Get the kids outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air with this gross motor activity!! 🌞🌈Yes, we are here with one more activity which is a blend of learning shapes and alphabets, along with some sweat glands workout for kids🙌

Easy to setup, you just need chalk and a space like sidewalk or cement patio. You can try out variations in this, but the kids would find their own ways to play with this. Ask ideas from them, to your great surprise they will come up with ideas we haven't thought about.

Lets get into this. Draw different shapes in grid pattern. As you add rows, vary the order, making sure each row has at least one of each shape.

Let the kids chose their own shape (no fighting, please!). They have to jump from one end of the grid to the other, but staying on their shape. LO had great fun as we did this together with my niece and nephew.

For older kids you could encourage they hop from shape to shape. My niece, as she is the eldest among the three found bit bored at the beginning, but she made it interesting by hopping forward and backward, skipping rows,etc.

In the second phase, we included alphabets to extend the play time. The kids helped me out in doing so. And again the fun began.

 The kids tried out all possibilities. I'm sure this fun activity would keep the kids busy for long time.

After they had exhausted all possibilities the kids asked for chalk and kept themselves busy with some creative art!!

Get the kids moving using a chalk!

Gross motor activities should be essential part of every child's daily life. It helps to develop hand-eye coordination, improve gross motor skills and better physical development.

But I feel LO doesn't get enough physical activity that he should get at this age😔So I always try to find ways to engage him through simple activities at home to keep him moving around. This activity is a modification of the post by 21st Century Teachers which I have already shared on my facebook page. I liked it very much and was waiting for the right time to try this.

We did this activity together with my niece and nephew during their year end vacation. At the start I was skeptical about this move whether the kids would enjoy or not. But to my astonishment kids enjoyed to the core.Very simple to execute with loads of fun guaranteed😀.
